The Future is Closer Than We Thought

A robot is running in the parliamentary elections. What he promises to the citizens to win the election race

The technology of the future reaches a new level. The first party run entirely by artificial intelligence appeared in Denmark. The Synthetic Party defines itself as anti-political and aims to optimize the voting system in this country, but also to run for the next parliamentary elections, which will take place in 2023.

The developments in technology amaze us every day and are about to revolutionize the political system as well. The Synthetic Party of Denmark came about after artificial intelligence software analyzed all publications written by Danish parties over the past 50 years and came up with a proposed political program that represents the views of an “ordinary” person.

Among the projects proposed by the robot is the establishment of a universal minimum income, with a value twice higher than the average salary today. Added to this is the formulation of a new goal in UN programs that allows humans and algorithms to coexist.

The Synthetic Party has announced that it will organize the first election meeting for the public in September. It is not yet known what his chances are of getting a seat in the Danish Parliament. “It’s a way to imitate and simulate the political process from one end to the other, but in direct confrontation with the legislative apparatus,” said Asker Bryld Staunaes, an artist member of the Computer Lars collective.

By positioning itself as an anti-political party, the Synthetic Party is, at the same time, an irony to the hundreds of Danish fringe parties, many of which are more a farce or a satire on society than a proper party.

There are currently 230 micro-parties in Denmark, including the Synthetic Party. He has not yet collected the more than 20,000 signatures needed to be on the lists for next year’s parliamentary elections. It is difficult to estimate whether it will be able to collect the necessary number of signatures by next year, given that it currently has only four.

If it wins a seat in the Parliament, the Synthetic Party has said that it will appoint a representative to ensure the connection between the artificial intelligence part and the part related to the political debates organized in the Parliament. For now, the only members of the Synthetic Party are the artists from the Computer Lars collective, the company that created the software, and their collaborators.
