Only a Tweet Away from a New Reality

How a single tweet changed everything and forced us to confront our frail human condition during a pandemic

On this day three years ago, March 11, 2020, the sky seemed to fall over our heads, and all it took was a tweet.

I kept reading through social media and keeping up with the latest headlines.

Little did we know that our lives were about to take an unexpected turn.

I felt a mix of shock, disbelief, and confusion.

“How could this be happening?”

“Was it that bad?”

I never imagined it would reach this level of global impact in a couple of months.

My girlfriend looked at me with a concerned expression, sensing my unease.

We sat there in silence, staring at the tweet on the screen, trying to process what it meant for us and the world.

Suddenly, I was overwhelmed by a feeling of uncertainty.

I couldn’t believe what I was reading.

It was staggering to consider the scope of the problem and how it would affect millions of people in a variety of ways.

I wasn’t scared. I worried about our loved ones, especially the elderly.

“What does this mean for our lives?”

“Will our parents be safe?”
