Prolix or Prolific?

Two almost homophone words. Completely different meanings. As a writer I am totally scared at being prolix, wordy, composing clichê clauses to always bring the same. We could try to define this act as using lots of thin words to express even thinner ideas. Verborragia.

For those of us who love the craft, who want to write for the world, it is very good to practice often and abundantly, but it is also an important part of authoring texts to come back to see them regularly, editing and editing and editing until almost perfection. Naturally perfection might not exist regarding this issue, and I'm just kidding, because what is awesome for me should still need lots of work at your sight. Nevertheless, excellence must be chased by all of us, for my quality to meet yours.

But now, prolific, how I love this word! - and here is my poet’s heart speaking as loud and wild as the proper feeling. To largely produce, wetting the paper with a flood of ideas and good words, or sincerity in case of an elegy - is there anything better? Well, maybe a few ones ;) I’ve committed myself to writing daily - sometimes a chronicle, sometimes a poetry, or both, or more, sometimes just editing, but the fact is that I want to prolifically write and publish.

My literature teacher says that the best books are the oldest, because nowadays ideas are either biased or empty. Well, I can't safely relate, because I don't know as many books as him. Besides, I might write mostly with my body and less with my intellect, as said by the famous Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector.

The professor is an old trustworthy man, and I not only believe but also am afraid that he is right somehow. He advises us to use fat words to express huge ideas, what is supposed to be an abbreviated receipt for a good text or literary work.

So, back to our initial discussion on those similar words, let us all desire to exceed in texts, yes, but prioritizing their quality and timeliness. May we sincerely talk on profund matters, capturing the sinergic essence of life and passionately recording it down to our beloved posterity.
