How To Find A Solution To Any Challenge?

What I learned from a Tourist Guide.

Allow me to share my experience with you all on how Amir ( a tourist guide) helped me find a solution to the challenge I was facing.

I was at the Burj Khalifa, awaiting the water fountain show. I have always been miserable in photography and have never managed to capture the entire structure in a single frame on my iPhone.

The best shot I captured all these years was the Burj without the top 15 or 25 floors, and eventually, I deleted those photos as I could not catch the complete structure.

Amir observed my photography skill and approached me, praising my new iPhone. He looked at my Burj Khalifa shots and said he would teach me a trick. I replied to Amir that I am not a camera geek and expressed my unwillingness to learn complex camera stuff. Amir assured me that his method would be one of the simplest ones. I was skeptical but eager to see what he had to show off.

I imagined he would zoom out, adjust exposure, or use complex camera settings. To my surprise, in the next 5 seconds, he took a full shot of the Burj Khalifa without any adjustments.

All Amir did was invert the iPhone and click a shot. I was wonderstruck and grabbed the phone from his hands and tried a few photos, and everything came out well. I hugged Amir and appreciated his clever idea of flipping the phone upside down to capture tall structures.

Amir not only taught me his simple camera trick but also some lessons that I ponder:

2. Be open and express willingness to new ideas.

3. Appreciate people for whatever they are and what they know.

4. We may have the most sophisticated tool in the world. However, it is in vain if we don’t know how to use it.

5. In most cases, the solutions to the challenges are usually simple, and that solution comes from a fresh mind.
